In this blog, we’ll take a look at the ten most exciting car releases on the horizon for the new year, from electric beasts to city cars, speedsters, and saloons. We’ll also point you in the right direction of the perfect number plate to greet 2024 in style.
Let’s start with something budget-friendly and lowkey.
Just kidding. It’s a Lambo. The all-new V12 plug-in hybrid Lambo, to be exact, also known as the Lamborghini Revuelto.
The highly anticipated replacement for the iconic Aventador, Lamborghini has adopted electricity for this incredible machine with a plug-in hybrid setup. In true Lamborghini style, however, this is more to aid performance than efficiency, with the technology helping the Revuelto access power of 841bhp, which is insane.
One that will turn heads on your trip to the supermarket, the Lamborghini Revuelto is as bombastic as you want it to be from a new Lambo.
In terms of pricing, this will set you back just shy of £450,000. Gulp.
From Italian excellence to a British classic, next, with the upcoming Mini Cooper. The latest generation of this icon of UK roads will boast a high-tech interior, with petrol options of the Cooper continuing to be produced in Oxford.
It will also see the introduction of the electric model, which will be built in China, with a range of 250 miles promised by the manufacturers. Not bad at all, especially with prices closer to £30,000 rather than half a million you’ll fork out on the Revuelto.
Not that they’re all that comparable as vehicles, mind.
Something a bit bigger next with an exciting first dip into the electric car game from Land Rover.
One of the last manufacturers to enter the EV race, the Range Rover EV will be sold alongside petrol, diesel, and plug-in hybrid options as well as the flagship, all-electric option.
Details are hard to come by for this all-new SUV EV, but there’s talk of a massive battery capacity of 350 miles per single charge, with off-roading ability that lives up to the reputation of Rangeys of old.
The main question is whether it can compete with the Range Rover Sport and Defender, which make up 76 percent of JLR’s current orders. We’ll soon see as 2024 develops.
Okay, back to Italy next with the magnificent Ferrari Roma Spider. With a 0-60mph of 3.3 seconds, a front-engine 612-hp twin-turbo V8, and a rear-mounted eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, this is built for one thing and one thing only. Speed.
And beauty, of course, since it’s a Ferrari, but that goes without saying from the Italian supercar manufacturer.
There are no back seats in the Roma, so not ideal for the family, but it does include an 8.4-inch touchscreen with a separate screen for the front passenger. So, swings and roundabouts.
Coming in at around £250,000 and including driver-assistance features like blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, available lane-departure warnings, and rear cross-traffic alerts, this is a supercar with an emphasis on super, and should be available at some point in 2024.
Ferraris are all well and good, but the Renault 5 will only set you back about £30,000 and boasts a 248-mile range from a full charge.
It also has back seats, which is nice.
Details are kept under wraps at the moment, but this is the first EV from Renault that draws more on classic car designs that they hope will become future classics. It’s also one of the most affordable new EVs on the market, in a trend that looks set to continue as the years roll on and EVs become more commonplace on European roads.
Another SUV next, with prices starting at just shy of £34,000 when it hits the UK market in 2024.
The first electric car from Volvo, this is an enticing price point for those looking to get into the EV game with something a little bigger than a city car, but more affordable than a Range Rover EV.
With a range of up to 298 miles and high-quality tech throughout, this is Volvo’s smallest model available, although it still comfortably falls under the SUV category.
Yep, you read that right, it’s a Fiat 600, not a 500, with a new, not-so-small offering from the French automotive giants.
The Fiat 600e actually shares more similarities with the Jeep Avenger than any city car currently available, never mind the Fiat 500, with a 250-mile range coming from a 51kWh battery under the hood.
There’s also boot space in bucketloads to appeal to the family car buyers, as well as a lower price point of just under £33,000.
For those with fossil fuels on the mind, there’s a petrol version of this one coming later in the year which looks set to be considerably cheaper.
Jeep is back in a big way in 2024 with their all-new Wrangler, which has put a focus on comfort as the manufacturer moves from rugged to relaxation in the new year.
With 12-way power-adjustable front seats and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system in the front, you’ll also benefit from wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as standard.
In the UK, there’ll only be one engine option available, however, which is a 267bhp 2.0 litre turbocharged four-pot, partnered with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Sound good? Costs start at £60,785 when they land in the UK and rise to £62,785 for the Sahara and Rubicon trims, respectively.
This new Maserati is a beautiful, all-black number that is set to replace the Nettuno in 2024. With three electric motors instead of the V6 found on its predecessor, owners will also benefit from a mind-boggling, road-gobbling 751bhp and 996lb lift.
Comfortably the fasted GT on a straight road, the Granturismo will reach 0-62mph in 2.7 seconds, which is just silly.
There aren’t many details released about the new Maserati just yet, but it promises to be an expensive, loud, incredible piece of machinery worthy of the name.
From supercars to city cars, let’s end our list with a saloon from Skoda – the Skoda Superb.
Coming with estate and hatch options, too, the Superb is equipped with new technology on the inside, fresh styling on the outside, and a new design for the interior. There’ll also be petrol, diesel, and plug-in hybrid options to choose from in the UK.
This fourth-generation Skoda Superb is a clear evolution from previous models, with a massive 690-litre boot option for the estate and 645 litres for the hatch.
Prices haven’t been confirmed, yet, but starting costs look to be around £35,000 when it’s released in the UK next year.
